A Scriptural Prayer Against the Coronavirus & Fear Virus

Father, in 2 Chronicles 7:14, you declared that if your people who are called by your name will (1) humble themselves, (2)  pray and seek your face, and (3) turn from our wicked ways, then  you will  (a) hear us from heaven,  (b) will forgive our sins, and (c)  heal our land. In obedience to this command, I come before you now humbling myself and submitting my life to your will and purpose. I repent and turn from my ways and actions that do not align with your Word. I ask for your mercy and forgiveness. Now, Lord, you said that nothing is too hard for you (Jeremiah 32:27),  therefore, my eyes are on you to eradicate this coronavirus. I pray that you will reveal the antidote now.

Father, the spirit of fear is running rampant throughout the land. It is proving to be more contagious and destructive than the coronavirus.  You see that the stock markets have tanked, medical  testing and disinfectant supplies are scarce, and people are panic buying for fear of scarcity. But, you have not given me the spirit of fear (2 Timothy 1:7). Therefore, I ask you to help me to cast down every thought and imagination that rises up against your promises (2 Corinthians 10:5).  I pray that you will keep me in constant awareness of your abiding presence. Give me the grace to model your peace and to boldly declare your power, your protection, your provision.  Help me not to host doubtful and destructive thoughts that give life to the virus of fear and bring anxiety to myself and others. You are my refuge and my fortress, my God,  in you I trust (Psalm 91:2). By faith, I declare that I will  be not be anxious for anything, but in everything  by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, I will present my needs to you. In so doing,  your word says that the peace you give me will surpass my understanding and will guard my heart and my mind (Philippians 4: 6-8). Help me not to dwell on the misrepresentations and negativity being perpetuated  by the media and even political leaders with personal agendas.

Father, I pray for your protection for the elderly and all others at-risk for the coronavirus. I pray that you will make a way for financially disadvantaged families who need special favor and consideration on their jobs during this season. Protect and strengthen the medical professionals who are working hard to mitigate the impact of this plague. Help me not to be self-focused but to find ways to add value to others during this time.

O Lord, heal our land. Let your purpose prevail according to your divine plan. Bring the U.S. together as a nation and end the great divide we are experiencing. Cause my family and families around the world to embrace your priorities for our lives. Give us a passion for prayer and for the study of your Word. We know that every crisis is only for a season. So I thank you in advance for bringing this nation through and restoring all that is being lost. And not just  for me and my country do I pray, but I pray for the world. Let there be a harvest of souls in every nation. Let those of us, called by your name, become a beacon of hope, and cause the world to realize that we all are in desperate need of the Savior who died for the world.

In the name of Jesus, I pray.  Amen.
